Turtle Warrior In The Rain

It was raining today.
I love listening to the rain tap on my window as I work. Sometimes I toy with the idea of moving to a city where it rains a lot. Like, maybe Seattle. Maybe I would run into Fraiser. If you know of any other rainy cities... let me know.

Anyway... I did this warm up of an anthropomorphic Turtle Warrior climbing a mountain in the rain. It's always fun combining animals and fantasy... always.

ink Doodle of Newt!

Doodle of the character Newt from my comic: The Legend of Percival Pundragon.

I did this one with a blue mechanical pencil, Micron 05 pigma pen, and a Pitt Cold Grey III Brush Pen.

This just screams for me to animate him running. Maybe someday I'll get a round to it.

Day of the tentacle... Retro time

Growing up I had a friend named Jason.  He was my computer game friend.

Playing with him usually went like this...

I'd come over to his house

He'd open the door and say "hey" or something similar

Without a word we would then walk down to his basement (possibly stop in the kitchen for a snack on the way)

We would then both sit down and play the computer game that had been tickling our fancy for the past few days.

I remember it started with floppy disc games like Summer Olympics and then moved on to more sophisticated games like Lode Runner.

Later though... our bread and butter became the awesome cartoon style story adventures like Monkey Island, Sam and Max, and the above little gem Day of the Tentacle

yeah... we wasted a lot of time.

I do think we played air hockey once.

Anyway this piece was done for the tentacle blog.

Hulk Improvement

There are so many self help books out there... certainly one of them would help the hulk make a breakthrough.

Though, I'm pretty sure it'll be all over the moment that burning hot liquid burns his tongue.

anyway... hope you enjoy.

It was a fun piece to work on.

I originally had him holding the book out in front of him and the cup was in his other hand. Then my genius wife suggested he should really be getting ready to take a sip of the herbal tea. Genius my dear... genius.

Mamma Mia! Poor Choice Luigi!

Thought I'd do some Luigi art. As we all know the greats have historically always started by doing Luigi themed art.... even DaVinci... especially DaVinci.

Super Mario Bros. really needs to have more tentacles.... oh and I did this for the More Tentacles blog.

I'm Tumblin'

Well Blog readers...
I thought I'd tell y'all that I'm on Tumblr now.

That way y'all can mosey on over to Tumblr if'n y'ant to. (that sentence looks like its in a foreign language... and it is)

I like cowboys.

I'm thinking that Tumblr might be on it's way to replacing Blogger. Much like Google replaced Yahoo and Facebook replaced Myspace.

Don't worry... I'll hang on to this ol' blog while I'm tumblin'. They'll have to pry it out of my dead cold fingers.

UniPigeon... aka Rainbow Dove

Yes... yes I am keeping to a theme. How did you know?

turns out you can pretty much make any creature magical by just adding a unicorn horn to it.

This is the Unipigeon also known as the Rainbow Dove or the Uniplop.

It's been said that if you're lucky enough to drive under one of these guys they will drop gum drops on your car. I don't know where they get them but it sounds pretty enjoyable.

yep...

Mumm-Ra Redux - My Childhood Villains

A while back I did a shogun style samurai Lion-O

well... here is my counter part Mumm-Ra redesign.

Obviously the guy lives in a pyramid so I wanted to bring out more egyptian elements than the original design had. Then on top of that I wanted some asian influence to go with the Samurai Lion-O design.

Anyway...

Ancient spirits of evil, Turn this decayed form into Mumm-Ra the everliving!

... I don't know if anybody else agrees, but I've always felt like the introduction of Ma-mutt kind of neutered (pun intended) Mumm-Ra's evil side. He went from a creepy old mummy, bent on ruling third earth to a grumpy old man on the porch who always has his trusty blood hound by his side.

So, enjoy.

Woah! Watch out Gnome!... and Dungeon Dice

Oh man... That gnome is going to get it.
... a little too much gardening eh?

Yeah, needless to say, I love illustrating perilous situations. So, if anybody wants me to draw a gerbil facing down a pit-bull, just let me know. I'm game.

This piece was done for the More Tentacles Blog.

In other news...

Dungeon Dice has been re-launched on Kickstarter.

Me, myself, and I did the illustration work for the kickstarter page.

Go check it out and get a copy of the Game!!!!

Foot Ninja Ambush! - My Childhood Villains

Watch out!

You're getting ambushed by the foot!

I told you (i.e. warned you) that more Ninja Turtle stuff would be coming.

I just couldn't help myself.

Plus... I think I want to keep doing villains from my childhood. I started making a mental list of villains from old cartoons and tv shows. Yep, I geeked out.

feel free to suggest any villains you can think of.

I decided to go for an old school color scheme here.... yep, purple ninjas.

Sea Captain with Unruly Tentacle Hair

Behold!
I love pirates...
I love tentacles...
I love art...
.... and yeah. So I drewed this here sea captain.

... he has bed head... not the product... the condition.

I imagine that once you get tentacle bed head, it's pretty much a permanent state.

that's all. Oh, and I did it for the tentacle blog again. Maybe you should do something and submit it!

Ninja Turtle vs Ninja Tentacles

Okay... sorry I lied. They aren't ninja tentacles... but that is a ninja turtle fo sho... Raphael for those of you not in the know.

T. U. R. T. L. E. power... after drawing Krang I just couldn't resist. And, there is probably more coming.

oh, and I would like to take this time to thank Vanilla Ice for the Ninja Rap.

When I was a kid Raphael was my "declared" favorite. Let me clarify. He wasn't actually my favorite. Michealangelo was my favorite. However, my best friend (you know who you are) declared Mikey was his favorite turtle before I did so I obviously had to choose a different one. So Raph was the closest, but in my heart it was always Mikey... though now it's Donatello.

and... since it has tentacles I threw it up on the More Tentacles Blog. Why? because it's Tentacle Tuesday!

In a little bit I think I'm going to take you through a magical journey of my artist heroes. I'll be picking some people from my links list over yonder and will be spotlighting their work. So... yeah...

Happy blog reading.

Thunder… thunder… thunder... THUNDERCATS HO!

I had a crazy idea that wouldn't leave my mind. So… here it is.

What an awesome show that would have been! Japanese Thundercats?! Samurai Lion-O?!

I will always love the original Thundercats. Lion-O's man-mane was something else. He put Fabio to shame. Honestly I haven't seen the new series yet… but I'm not itching for it or anything.

Hope you enjoy cause it was fun for me.

Oh, and go check out the tentacle blog.
